Deep Dive: What is the Metaverse? Can I order a pizza there? Will it taste good? What AR/VR activity is happening at Harvard?
Seven Harvard researchers will give short flashtalks on their XR research. Guaranteed to knock your virtual socks off. Community networking thereafter.
• Rus Gant - Visualization Research laboratory: a decade of XR support for teaching and research in the sciences and humanities at Harvard • Iulian Radu - AR Educational Technology for Makerspaces • Shari Metcalf - Immersive authentic simulations for K-12 science education to enhance motivation and learning • Tica Lin - "Sports Meets XR" - the wide-open possibilities for sports analytics
• Vijay Reddi - architecting future XR systems • Peter Der Manuelian - pyramids, mummies, and Hieroglyphs: Some tools of the future for the study of the past
• Young Joo Lee - in between the States of Immersion and De-immersion
Portals to the Metaverse provided. Non-virtual food, pizza and drinks also provided for comparison.
Many people contributed to pulling this Symposium together. Noteworthy and herculean effort selecting ideas, speakers, and formats by Leon Pietschmann, Alice Cai, AnhPhu Nguyen (the last two leaders of the hAR/VRd Developers Club, which also managed live journeys into the Metaverse on Day1).
